Data Culture Club Virtual Roundtable

Data Culture Club Logo

Join the Data Culture Club's first virtual event!

The Data Culture Club brings together pioneering professionals across the world who are shaping their organisations’ attitude to data. In a discipline that is relatively new, it gives members an opportunity to explore new ideas, share insights, and support one another on what can be a challenging journey. We believe the key to developing best practice is simple: sharing what we know.

Our quarterly London events have allowed us to get together in person to hear fresh perspectives from industry leaders, engage in open dialogue and enjoy some convivial networking. We’re excited to be holding our next event online, and looking forward to including our international members in our discussions for the first time.

Expect to walk away with bold ideas, practical takeaways, and a spark of inspiration to ignite change in your own organisation!

Topic

In organisations with a strong Data Culture, data naturally shapes how people work and make decisions. Getting to that point, though, usually means they have to learn new skills or adjust some long-established habits – and although we’d love them to be naturally excited about initiatives like training courses and champion schemes, encouragement is often needed to get started, or to keep going. So how can we incentivise people in a way that feels meaningful rather than mandatory?

In this event we will explore creative ways to drive engagement, curiosity and sustained participation from two angles:

  • Motivation can be intrinsic (the activity is enjoyable and valuable) or extrinsic (done to earn a reward or to avoid a penalty). Gamification can encourage both, by introducing fun elements and friendly rivalry – and points do mean prizes!
  • Recognition is a powerful way to acknowledge an achievement, whatever your budget – from a shout-out in a team meeting, to something more tangible like a voucher, or branded merchandise that generates a bit of FOMO.

As this is the first time we’ve got our global community together, we’re delighted to have two members from either side of the Atlantic share their experiences and give us some ideas to mull over in break-out rooms, before we come back together to share our conclusions. We look forward to hearing your opinions and ideas!
