Don’t let your cloud data
slow you down.

The CDMC framework gives you the clarity and controls to manage data in hybrid environments so you can automate and scale with trust.

CDMC: The gold standard for automated cloud data control

Moving to the cloud doesn’t magically fix your data problems — it just spreads them around. Now you’re managing data on-premises and across multiple clouds, each with its own risks and rules.

That’s where CDMC® (Cloud Data Management Capabilities) comes in. Created by the EDM Association, it’s the companion framework to DCAM®, specifically designed to measure data management capabilities for cloud, multi-cloud and hybrid environments.

It gives you one language for scalable data management — so your data is compliant, safe and trustworthy.

Why does it matter?

The cloud makes data easier to use — and easier to lose. Without clear structure and control, the very flexibility that makes cloud powerful can also create risk. So whether it’s cloud or on-premises, you need the same foundational data management capabilities.

Adopting CDMC means that you:

Most asked questions

What is the CDMC framework?

CDMC is an open framework created by the EDM Association. Think of it as a blueprint for automating the right controls so your cloud data is trusted, compliant and auditable.

What’s the difference between an Assessment and a Certification?

The assessment is used to understand your current state - what's working, where the gaps are and what to improve.

The certification is an official verification judged by the EDM Association given if you pass their compliance testing process.

How long is my Certification valid for?

It's valid for 12 months. You'll need to retest against the 14 controls every year to retain your Certification.

How is CDMC different from DCAM?

CDMC defines the requirements for automated controls of your data environment. DCAM defines foundational data management capability components and controls. Together, they form a complete picture: DCAM for capability; CDMC for control.

Is CDMC only for tech firms?

Not at all! CDMC applies to any business handling sensitive or regulated data in the cloud - no matter the sector.

It does help businesses remain compliant against regulations like GDPR, BCBS 239 and HIPAA, to ensure trust and accountability is all across your data landscape.
